A Stitch in Time (tag #3)

Okay, here is the last tag! I love this project because it has a little story....a young girl is imagining wearing the new dress her mom is making her for a special occasion. The pattern, tape measure, and button cards are just a few of the supplies needed to complete the cute little dress.

I remember the anticipation as my mother labored each Spring to make three matching Easter dresses for my sisters and myself. I followed in her footsteps and for many years made Easter outfits (not matching) for myself and my four daughters. The sentiment "handmade just for you" expresses the love that went into sewing those dresses each and every year!

The photo doesn't capture how cute those litttle button cards turned out. I stamped the card on glossy cardstock and used pearl and blingie brads for the buttons....

A Stitch in Time (tag#2)

This is the second tag I made for the swap. The photo didn't turn out the way I wanted it to even after several tries...oh well...I still have a lot to learn about posting images.

I used a ton of elements to create this tag. I began by aging the tag with distress ink then added the stamped and colored images of the woman sewing. I used the dress forms from the RL"Dress Form"stamp and glued one to the tag and later I glued the other one to the chipboard dress. Then I added the words and thimble.

Next I covered the cute chipboard dress with scraps of paper, inked the edges, glued on the other dress form, added rick rack on the bottom, sewed a button to a piece of tape measure ribbon and adhered it to the dress form and then I went crazy adding buttons and snaps! I found the cute little hanger in my stash of metal embellishments and used a super glue to attach it to the top of the dress. Ahhh....can you see another scissor brad? They are so cute! After pinning a tiny safety pin onto the ribbon I glued the dress onto the tag.

A Stitch in Time (tag #1)

Hi every ONE...that would be you Allie since you are my first and only follower!! LOL Thanks for being a sweet and loyal daughter!

These tags were made for the Red Lead "A Stitch in Time" swap. We were challenged to create projects with these awesome vintage alterations tags and rubber stamps from the new Red Lead sewing theme collection. I even added a little sewing on the tags to give some texture to the collage.

This first tag has been overstamped with a new RL stamp called "Dress Form". I LOVE this stamp! Then I layered several other elements on the tag, added a few buttons on a garment pin (not in photo), inked everything up and I really like the result. Can you see the tiny silver scissors at the bottom of the tag? It's a brad! So cute!

This is one of the projects I made for the Christmas garland swap over at Red Lead. It turned out looking very vintage ...I hated to part with it!

Halloween Greetings Postcard Swap

In this swap we started with a postcard tag about 4"x6" and then we created our own Halloween magic!

Another Altered House...

As I explained in my first blog entry, mixed media projects can contain lots of different ingredients. This project has chipboard, scrapbook paper, ink, rubber stamping, digital images, metal findings, linen thread and an acrylic frame.

Altered House Swap

I think this altered house turned out nice. I covered the chipboard house with vintage sheet music then stamped various images over it. The woman is a digital image from the Red Lead store. The metal findings are from the Tim Holtz collection.
